[ It takes Jane a long while to settle down to this first ... whatever. Video? Journal entry? Something. She has clothes - not her own, but clothes nonetheless - and even a small bag of food, to take with her when she goes to find ... well. Someplace to stay. Stay, not live. This won't be home. It can't be.

She sighs heavily, puffing her cheeks out on a hard breath as she flips through the pages. An hour or two of reading have acquainted her with how the system works, as bizarre as it is. She sounds tired, when she speaks, a sort of bone weary ache. ]

Alright. So the journal is some sort of half-book half-iPad technomagical means of communicating, aaaaand this place gives you wings. [ A beat. ] There's a cheesy Red Bull ad in there somewhere, but I'm not going there.

[ A pause. Stay on track for three seconds, why don't you? ]

Sorry, I-- my name is Jane Foster. I'm a astrophysicist with SHIELD, if that means anything to anyone. Well, more like a researcher, but -- anyway. I just really hope that means something to someone. It'd be nice to at least -- I don't know. Have a familiar face from my own world. Or universe. I'm guessing universe.

[ Another pause, shorter. ] So how many versions of Earth are there, here? I'm going to guess at least a dozen. Maybe several dozen, who knows. And probably plenty of other worlds besides. From who knows how many different universes. And yet here we all are. [ She laughs, incredulous and kind of unhappy. ] This place is somehow the special one. I'd just -- love to know how they do it, really. Someone's going to tell me it's magic, and I just--

[ She finally stops, sighing again. ]

Sorry, sorry. Um -- hi. Nice to ... meet all of you, I guess.

[Trust... that's nice. Really nice to hear. After all this time, he honestly isn't sure they've earned that from the rest of the Avengers. Especially considering that they'd been confined to the HQ for most of the war.

...Then again, when they'd decided to leave, things... hadn't gone so well. No wonder Cap had been so cautious.

Still, it means a lot, especially coming from someone he trusts (even if she's from an alternate universe), so he doesn't hesitate to smile appreciatively at her words.]

Oh, god. He's just this mad bastard who works as a private detective, only he also...consults...to us at Scotland Yard now and then. I'll admit he's good at what he does, but he's so rude and arrogant that it's impossible to be around him.

And he may be able to identify a serial adulterer at a glance, but he doesn't know that the Earth goes round the sun.

[ A beat. ]

That sounds familiar, for some reason. Wait, are you seriously telling me a supposed genius doesn't know about the Earth going around the sun? In 2012? Or whatever year it is for you, though it can't be far off.

I'm pretty sure the outfit was picked for him. Eventually, the story goes, he quit the propaganda business and started being a soldier for real, but the outfit stuck. It was symbolic, by then.

[ She smiles, a little crookedly. ] I guess everyone felt like they needed a hero they could look to.

You realize you just put yourself on a level with kidnappers, right?

2012 is right, yeah. He claims that his brain is a "hard drive" and he only uses it to store information he considers useful. The solar system isn't useful, so he "deleted" it. I think it's a crock, but if he wants to play eccentric genius it's his business.

Be nice if he didn't do it on my time, of course.

[...this is going to get even more awkward, isn't it.]

Yeah, it—you probably know that name from a series of movies, I'm assuming.

Her reaction is so visibly awkward as to be comical, if he's watching her through the camera. She pulls her face in awkward ways, draws her chin back, bites her lip, the works. ]

.... so I'm not the first person to bring that up to you, huh.

When I first arrived I was told about them. I haven't seen the films myself and I try not to think about them, but it does come up from time to time. Luke and Obi-Wan seem to be quite popular, as much as it's disconcerting it's also a little amusing.

[ Well. ... well. That's ... something? She manages a little smile in response to his, though. Still awkward, but there. ]

You know... I can't blame you. I actually, um. I heard there might be a movie with... me in it? [ Another wince. ] So I can sort of sympathize.

... that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Who is he?
