[ It takes Jane a long while to settle down to this first ... whatever. Video? Journal entry? Something. She has clothes - not her own, but clothes nonetheless - and even a small bag of food, to take with her when she goes to find ... well. Someplace to stay. Stay, not live. This won't be home. It can't be.

She sighs heavily, puffing her cheeks out on a hard breath as she flips through the pages. An hour or two of reading have acquainted her with how the system works, as bizarre as it is. She sounds tired, when she speaks, a sort of bone weary ache. ]

Alright. So the journal is some sort of half-book half-iPad technomagical means of communicating, aaaaand this place gives you wings. [ A beat. ] There's a cheesy Red Bull ad in there somewhere, but I'm not going there.

[ A pause. Stay on track for three seconds, why don't you? ]

Sorry, I-- my name is Jane Foster. I'm a astrophysicist with SHIELD, if that means anything to anyone. Well, more like a researcher, but -- anyway. I just really hope that means something to someone. It'd be nice to at least -- I don't know. Have a familiar face from my own world. Or universe. I'm guessing universe.

[ Another pause, shorter. ] So how many versions of Earth are there, here? I'm going to guess at least a dozen. Maybe several dozen, who knows. And probably plenty of other worlds besides. From who knows how many different universes. And yet here we all are. [ She laughs, incredulous and kind of unhappy. ] This place is somehow the special one. I'd just -- love to know how they do it, really. Someone's going to tell me it's magic, and I just--

[ She finally stops, sighing again. ]

Sorry, sorry. Um -- hi. Nice to ... meet all of you, I guess.

I would, yeah. But first I'd just like to meet him. He's the one original Avenger that I haven't yet, which is weird considering I modeled myself after him right from the start.

Even I don't know that one. When the Avengers were disassembled he kind of disappeared, and it's not like we can just phone up Asgard and ask. Probably doing important thunder god stuff, saving the universe, fighting ice giants...

Yes, I have. Well. Aside from Black Widow and Hawkeye. I've never heard of those two before.

Captain-- from the movie?

[Or...probably not.]

...In my world, Captain America is a character from a comic book, or something. There was a film about him last year.

Really? Weird. Then again, I guess it might just be too early for you, still. [ A laugh. ] Everything about this is pretty strange, still.

[ Opens mouth. Shuts it. ]

I mean ... he had comic books made about him after World War II, yeah, but he's a real guy. He starred in a bunch of cheesy propaganda films that mostly just serve as college class fodder these days.

[ ... ]

What about Iron Man? Is that familiar to you?

I like to think after a while I'll just stop being surprised. I probably shouldn't hold my breath, though.

[ It ought to be to her credit that she manages to keep her reaction pared down to a pause, and a slow sigh through her nose. ]

... superhero stuff. [ A faint smile. ] I wonder if I'll ever really get used to that.

Not only is he familiar, he's here. He was in a movie as well; I actually saw that one. Played by Robert Downey Jr. Which makes talking to him a bit strange.

He's here?

[ Ah. Someone to talk to, then. ]

Thaaaaat's really, really weird to hear, though. The movie thing, not the part that he's here. What about... the Hulk? Hawkeye? Black Widow? ... Thor?

I know about the Hulk and Thor; they had movies too. The others don't sound familiar.

[Not much of a superhero buff.]

The Hulk is here too. I haven't spoken to him - I don't know if he even talks, to be honest - but I've seen him around. He's hard to miss.

Voice message, voice mail, written memo- I think there may be a bulletin board in the main clinic for the physicians and those interested in classes to use. If you cannot contact him, I will find whatever information on the classes that I can for you.

[ ... Thor had a movie?

WOW THIS IS WAY TOO SURREAL TO EVEN CONTEMPLATE, WOW. Just. After her mouth hangs open for a second, she snaps her jaw shut and tries to regain her composure.

And then she hears the Hulk is here. ]

He's what? ... and the village isn't leveled yet?

Well, either it's the Hulk or a completely different huge, green, humanoid, cross-looking monster who can leap tall buildings. He hasn't tried to level anything that I know of, but he sort of...rattles things a bit when he lands.

I should be alright, but I'll contact you if I have any problems.

Heh, good question. I've been one for months now and I still wake up not believing it sometimes. Doing some magic is part of the morning routine now just so I don't have to wonder about it.

[After breakfast, before brushing his teeth. He used to do it at the same time but then he broke a mirror and got himself grounded for a week.]

... wow. Just ... wow. [ She really doesn't know what to say to that. ]

That's really surreal. I mean, I guess it's not too surprising that what's real in my universe would be fictional in yours. But it's strange to hear that everything I know to be true is something out of a comic book for you. [ Something of a smile. ] That's going to take some getting used to.

Months, huh? So this hasn't been a thing your whole life?

[ Guess she was mistaken on that one. ]

I still see things that surprise me all the time. Then again, besides the dragons? My world isn't exactly fantastic. Sooo I still encounter a lot of things here I never even knew existed before.

No way, not even close. I didn't even know I had powers until they went off on their own one day at school. That was maybe half a year ago.

[That's the kind of reaction he was looking for. Good job, Jane.]

Then good thing you've plenty of it.

Iiiif it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty sure my world's the same way. Everything's normal except the superheroes.

.... Iiiii bet that was a weird day. [ A quick, quiet laugh. ] Still, wow. Just six months, huh? No wonder you're still getting used to it.
