[ It takes Jane a long while to settle down to this first ... whatever. Video? Journal entry? Something. She has clothes - not her own, but clothes nonetheless - and even a small bag of food, to take with her when she goes to find ... well. Someplace to stay. Stay, not live. This won't be home. It can't be.

She sighs heavily, puffing her cheeks out on a hard breath as she flips through the pages. An hour or two of reading have acquainted her with how the system works, as bizarre as it is. She sounds tired, when she speaks, a sort of bone weary ache. ]

Alright. So the journal is some sort of half-book half-iPad technomagical means of communicating, aaaaand this place gives you wings. [ A beat. ] There's a cheesy Red Bull ad in there somewhere, but I'm not going there.

[ A pause. Stay on track for three seconds, why don't you? ]

Sorry, I-- my name is Jane Foster. I'm a astrophysicist with SHIELD, if that means anything to anyone. Well, more like a researcher, but -- anyway. I just really hope that means something to someone. It'd be nice to at least -- I don't know. Have a familiar face from my own world. Or universe. I'm guessing universe.

[ Another pause, shorter. ] So how many versions of Earth are there, here? I'm going to guess at least a dozen. Maybe several dozen, who knows. And probably plenty of other worlds besides. From who knows how many different universes. And yet here we all are. [ She laughs, incredulous and kind of unhappy. ] This place is somehow the special one. I'd just -- love to know how they do it, really. Someone's going to tell me it's magic, and I just--

[ She finally stops, sighing again. ]

Sorry, sorry. Um -- hi. Nice to ... meet all of you, I guess.

I've been there myself. But it was only one time, so I don't exactly remember a lot about it.

Uh. Do you remember what year it was in your world before you left it?

But ... how did you get there?

[ A beat. ] 2012. Why?

It's uh... a rather long story. Back home I'm kind of an associate of Thor's. And his brother, Loki along with the Enchantress were trying to use me as a-- [...] sort of weakness to get to him I suppose.

[Well. More like trying to use Hulk to wreck all of Asgard but shhh. Let's just skip that part.]

It's still 2010 where I'm from. So for me, none of this has happened yet.

[Okay, he'll laugh at that, too. Best defense strategy.] I think there's a loooot of differences between my vikings and the ones most people know. We've got the weird names. And the dragons. That's a big one. Some things are the same, though. northern sea, same gods, pointy hats...

I think so. [He can at least try to be reassuring; he knows that his powers make people nervous sometimes.] I'm getting better at it. Anyway, from what I've heard, this place isn't as dangerous as New York, so it might do me some good to stay here for a while.

...one day I will learn to begin interactions with New Feathers by introducing myself. Apparently to day isn't that day.

[Shaking her head at herself, Adele can't help but chuckle; she really ought to know better by now.]

Doctor Adele LeBlanc, at your service.

Alright then - just stay put and I'll find you. [...Wait.] Where exactly are you? Can you describe your location?

That explains why you were there, not how. [ Laser-focused on science, yes she is. ]

You think we're from the same universe, still? I'm starting to wonder about that.

[ That gets a laugh, which is both light and good natured. ]

Don't worry about it. It's nice to meet you, Adele. So -- doctor, huh?

I, um-- [ She glances over her shoulder. ] I just passed by a fountain. I'm still in the plaza. A plaza.

[ .... ]

I can see why that's the big one. You have dragons?

[ Notes the same gods thing, though, but files it away for later. ]

It's sort of weird to hear New York being referred to as so dangerous. It wasn't -- I mean, until recently, anyway. You make it sound like a war zone. [ Her mouth pulls to one side. ] But I mean -- other than, you know, some of the, uh, less fortunate things I've heard ... this place does seem pretty nice. Like a quiet country getaway. [ Though there's some incredulity in her expression and tone. ]

Never crossed my mind you'd be a threat. [Nuisance, more like.]

... if I'm not a threat, then why did you even-- you know what, forget it. By the way, Wolverine can't be your real name. That sounds more like a code name to me.

[He winces slightly at the mention of war- she's closer to the mark there than he'd like to admit.]

Luceti's not bad, yeah. It's a little boring, I guess, but people find ways to keep busy anyway.

.... alright, well. [ A sharp sigh. ] I guess that's a step in the right direction. How do you know SHIELD, anyway? I'm guessing it wasn't a friendly relationship.

It's a long story and I doubt you've got the clearance for it. [Not that he cares about their security levels, but he just doesn't want to talk about it.]

Okay. One, seriously? We've all got plenty of time, here. And two, you care about clearance?

[ Yeah, she senses he's that kind of guy. But it's also her own way of covering for saying, uh, no, I have no clearance whatsoever. ]

Fury does. And if he wanted you to know about me, you'd already know.

[Except for that pesky alternate universe thing.]
