[ It takes Jane a long while to settle down to this first ... whatever. Video? Journal entry? Something. She has clothes - not her own, but clothes nonetheless - and even a small bag of food, to take with her when she goes to find ... well. Someplace to stay. Stay, not live. This won't be home. It can't be.

She sighs heavily, puffing her cheeks out on a hard breath as she flips through the pages. An hour or two of reading have acquainted her with how the system works, as bizarre as it is. She sounds tired, when she speaks, a sort of bone weary ache. ]

Alright. So the journal is some sort of half-book half-iPad technomagical means of communicating, aaaaand this place gives you wings. [ A beat. ] There's a cheesy Red Bull ad in there somewhere, but I'm not going there.

[ A pause. Stay on track for three seconds, why don't you? ]

Sorry, I-- my name is Jane Foster. I'm a astrophysicist with SHIELD, if that means anything to anyone. Well, more like a researcher, but -- anyway. I just really hope that means something to someone. It'd be nice to at least -- I don't know. Have a familiar face from my own world. Or universe. I'm guessing universe.

[ Another pause, shorter. ] So how many versions of Earth are there, here? I'm going to guess at least a dozen. Maybe several dozen, who knows. And probably plenty of other worlds besides. From who knows how many different universes. And yet here we all are. [ She laughs, incredulous and kind of unhappy. ] This place is somehow the special one. I'd just -- love to know how they do it, really. Someone's going to tell me it's magic, and I just--

[ She finally stops, sighing again. ]

Sorry, sorry. Um -- hi. Nice to ... meet all of you, I guess.

Research! Research I can do. [ With a lopsided grin. ] Not that I like the idea of working for these creeps, but it doesn't sound like we have a lot of choice in the matter.

Independent research is possible as well, but the resources here are somewhat limited. Points earned may be exchanged for items you might need for your research. Tools, equipment, textbooks, your journal. [She lifts a shoulder with a half smile.]

The alternative is to sit and do nothing. I am not overly fond of that option.

[ ... Jane laughs quietly. ]

I like the way you think. If I could get my equipment back, I might actually start getting somewhere. You don't think they secretly have satellites overhead here, do you?

I do not know if the barrier would prevent any accurate communication from the village to any satellites, should there be any. Nor have I seen anything in the night sky in my time here to suggest that their presence. But that would be a worthy project, yes?

Barrier? What barrier? [ Someone needs to show this girl the guide. ] But yeah. I mean, it's a way to spend my time productively. Which is better than what I was planning on. [ Read: staring at the walls. ]

...If you check the back of your journal, you will find a guide that was written by one of our longest residents. It will explain much of the situation, here.

[ Ooh. Adele, you are wonderful. Jane doesn't even reply, not at first, instead flipping back to give it a cursory glance. ]

Right, okay. That should -- really, really help. Thank you, um ... what was your name? [ Adele didn't give it, but. Well. Awkwardly asking because why not. ]

...one day I will learn to begin interactions with New Feathers by introducing myself. Apparently to day isn't that day.

[Shaking her head at herself, Adele can't help but chuckle; she really ought to know better by now.]

Doctor Adele LeBlanc, at your service.

[ That gets a laugh, which is both light and good natured. ]

Don't worry about it. It's nice to meet you, Adele. So -- doctor, huh?

Surgeon. [Compared to an astrophysicist it's simple work. But. It's hers.] So if you find yourself with a ruptured appendix or in need of stitches I am one of the ones you might call.

Wow. Uh. No offense, but I really hope I don't have to call you. [ Another quick laugh. ]

That's helpful to know, though. Actually, if I wanted to study medicine here ... where do you think I should begin?

A surgeon is the physician no one ever wants to visit. I don't mind this, I'd much rather I wasn't needed at all.

To begin? I think we have classes available at the battle Dome. I would recommend contacting Doctor Law, he is the head physician for the clinics and the one that arranges them.

Oh, wow. Actual classes? That's even better than I was hoping for. Thanks, Adele. I'll ... uh, give him a journal call, or something.

Voice message, voice mail, written memo- I think there may be a bulletin board in the main clinic for the physicians and those interested in classes to use. If you cannot contact him, I will find whatever information on the classes that I can for you.

I should be alright, but I'll contact you if I have any problems.
